About Diane Ketcham's Award-Winning Career
Diane Ketcham is an award-winning career columnist for The New York Times. As the Long Island columnist, she covered every facet of Island life, including the Hamptons and the celebrities who live there. Prior to her work with The Times, she was a press secretary and chief of staff for a New York congressman. Her two careers combine in "The Vanishing A-List," her first novel. "Naples: Paradise Can Be Deadly" is her second novel. She is also the author of "Long Island: Shores of Plenty," a coffee table book about Long Island.
Awards
Ms. Ketcham's 25 years in media and government earned her numerous awards and accolades. Her Times columns—'About Long Island' and 'The Long Island Journal'—were judged the best in the nation by the National Society of Newspaper Columnists and the best in the New York region by the Society of Professional Journalists. Besides receiving other awards for feature and deadline reporting, she was four times honored by the Long Island Coalition for Fair Broadcasting as its print journalist of the year. She also appeared weekly as a commentator on WLIW-TV, New York's public television station that reaches two million households.
Other Writing
Before her work with The Times, Ms. Ketcham's newspaper articles were syndicated in more than 20 major newspapers, including The Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer, Dallas Morning News, and the San Francisco Chronicle. She has also written for New York and other magazines.
Television
Besides appearing on television, her broadcast career included serving as executive producer of election night coverage for WLIW-TV and producing business and current affairs programs. She holds a master's in communication arts and taught television production at the New York Institute of Technology.
